About the project
Albania is one of the few countries of the world that almost 33% of its population is abroad in immigration. During the early ‘90s, until, in the mid-2000s, many Albanians emigrated continuously, mostly in European countries were Italy and Greece had been the main destinations. In Italy nowadays live more than 500 thousand Albanian immigrants that are integrated and organized on different forms.
LIBURNETIK Organization, with the support of ASCS, has started a project based on the importance of Albanian Diaspora in Italy. The diaspora evaluation will serve as further stimulus for enriching the relation with Albanian civil society, state institutions and more as a bridge that will strength social and economic relation between neighbouring countries. This goes within the frame of empowering the capacities of diaspora organizations, through specific trainings focused on building network and lobbing, while growing in this way even the institutional collaboration between Albania and Italy. Furthermore will raise awareness of public opinion on the importance of diaspora on the country’s life (remittance, culture, Albanian language, and other).
